Season 3 of “Snowpiercer” heads to New Eden and shows the Resistance in command. Beginning with the daring rescue of Asha (Archie Panjabi) from the desolate nuclear nest, the final season of TNT’s post-apocalyptic drama “Snowpiercer” has taken quite a few twists and turns since its January premiere.
The previous episode, titled “Bound By One Track,” saw Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) being held in a cell after surrendering to Layton (Daveed Diggs) and the Resistance. He continues to have visions of Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) and seems to worry about Alex (Rowan Blanchard), who is on a risky mission with Ben. Layton tries to convince the train to set sail for New Eden and asks Asha to do her part in the negotiations, but receives a lukewarm response as people don’t entirely buy her vision. He also finds out that Zarah (Sheila Vand) has genetically altered their unborn child at the behest of Mr. Wilford.

Daveed Diggs, who has played Layton since 2020, has been in the industry since 2014, with his first major appearance in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Diggs began acting in 2005, starring in several theater productions. Daveed had moderate success as a rapper, spitting bars and writing verses for the Los Angeles-based experimental hip-hop group Clipping. He’s been writing lyrics and rapping for them since 2010, and the triumvirate has released 4 albums so far. He is also part of Freestyle Love Supreme, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail’s freestyle rap group. In 2016, Diggs wrote and performed a track for Disney’s “Zootopia.”
