Riverfront Canal Cruises are back, with historically narrated tours Friday through Sunday
The Children’s Hospital Foundation recently surpassed half of its fundraising goal of $ 100 million for its Built for Kids fundraising campaign to benefit the new Wonder Tower at Richmond Children’s Hospital in VCU.
The Foundation is celebrating a recent anonymous donation of $ 500,000 from a former member of the Board of Directors that raised the $ 50 million mark.
“In my decades of working with the Children’s Hospital, I have never been so enthusiastic about what is going on. The commitment to excellence, growth and caring for children is an inspiration to me and to many, ”said the donor. “My passion for supporting the hospital started many years ago when we were traveling out of town to take care of our daughter. Since then, I have wanted to defend and support the growth of our local hospital and provide a full range of care to families in need.
The anonymous donation was made in honor of Dr William Tate Graham, founder of the original Children’s Hospital on Brook Road, and to celebrate the hospital’s 100 year history.
Scheduled to open in the spring of 2023, the 16-story tower in downtown Richmond will house the CHoR level 1 pediatric trauma center, an emergency room, inpatient units, new operating rooms, a enhanced imaging capability and family amenities, all in an environment created just for children and their families. The Wonder Tower will include convenient free parking, all private patient rooms, and kid-friendly design and architectural features. Connected to the CHoR children’s outpatient ward, the establishment completes an entire island dedicated to childcare.
“We are celebrating this milestone with all of the generous and passionate donors who have brought us this far in the campaign and their donations inspire others to help us reach our goal of $ 100 million,” said Lauren Moore, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital Foundation. “These investments fuel our mission to defend and protect children. Our teams, patients and their families are energized by those who join us as we bring the best possible patient experience for children and their families and establish the trajectory of excellence in pediatric medicine – an impact that will be felt. for generations to come.
