In 2015, Hednesford Park was one of the first ‘Tennis For Free’ venues in the West Midlands and has since won numerous awards and helped create over 1,600 new tennis players.

As a result of this success, a second program, at the Cannock Park tennis courts, kicks off on Sunday.

In partnership with the Cannock Chase District Council and the LTA, Tennis For Free will offer free coach-led sessions for the whole family every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for a year as part of its goal of using tennis to improve physical and mental well-being. from all community members across the UK.

Lead Program Organizer Chris Perrin said: “I am very happy to welcome Tennis For Free to Cannock. After the success of Hednesford Park, we know this is a fantastic opportunity for the local community to try tennis for the first time, or to dust off the cobwebs after some time away from the sport.

“This is a fun, friendly and entertaining free weekly event where you will make new friends and enjoy regular exercise. There is no catch, as the name suggests, everything is free.

She said: “We are delighted that Tennis for Free is also available at Cannock Park.

“The initiative at Hednesford Park has been a great success over the past four years. Not only does this get people on the outside, but it also makes them active as they meet new people.

“This supports our goal of providing opportunities for healthy and active lifestyles to neighborhood residents. So if you’ve never bought a racquet or are a seasoned regular, there’s no excuse not to visit the Tennis for Free sessions. Qualified coaches, all equipment provided… all for free.
